Even though there are many habits and elements that make it more likely that you'll develop high blood pressure, in most cases there is not one simple cause that can be identified. The important thing is that, no matter what the cause, high blood pressure can be treated and managed, either by lifestyle changes alone or with the help of medication.

Leading a sedentary lifestyle with little exercise or physical activity can put you at risk for high blood pressure. Not getting enough exercise and sitting at a desk all day contribute to the nation's high blood pressure epidemic say some experts. It's a proven fact that even a small to moderate amount of exercise can help reduce your risk of high blood pressure. A lack of physical activity in our young people is the greatest risk to our young people where obesity and hypertension are concerned. It is not impossible to reverse this cause of high blood pressure, simply get up and get moving. In conclusion, it can be helpful to look at some of the causes of high blood pressure, such as the ones outlined above. If you have any risk factors, such as being overweight, having diabetes or a kidney problem or a family history of hypertension, you should get regular checkups and ask your doctor about the best way to control your blood pressure.
